Lauren Kasparson, MA

Project Manager at Geisinger Medical Center

Lauren received a BA in Cellular Neuroscience from Colgate University in 2015 and an MA in Psychological and Brain Science from Boston University in 2016. She has research experience on a range of studies from animal models to clinical genomics. Lauren currently works as a project manager at the Geisinger Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute in Pennsylvania, where she works in part on both Simons VIP and SPARK. In her free time, Lauren enjoys watching football, cooking, and doing crossword puzzles.

Stephen Martin, B.Sc.

Study Coordinator at Geisinger Medical Center

Stephen earned his B.Sc. in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Secondary Education at Wilkes University. A Pennsylvania state-certified teacher in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and General Sciences (grades 7-12), Stephen currently works at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania as Research Coordinator in the Genomics Medicine Institute. Looking forward to utilizing his backgrounds in education as well as the sciences, he is very excited to be part of the Simons VIP team. In his free time, Stephen performs, writes, and records music and enjoys painting and sketching.

Simone Smith, MSc

Study Coordinator at Geisinger Medical Center

Simone graduated with a BSc in Biology and Chemistry minor from Green Mountain College in 2013. Embracing her love of travel, Simone moved to London, England to complete her MSc in History and Philosophy of Science at University College London in 2015. Upon returning to the United States, Simone accepted a research coordinator position at Geisinger Health Center, working with the Simons VIP team. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with some guitar playing, taking her horse out for a trail ride, hiking with her dog, and catching up on some podcasts and documentaries.

Kaitlyn Singer, MS

Study Coordinator at Geisinger Medical Center

Kaitlyn earned her BS in Health Science with a Pre-Professional focus from Lock Haven University in 2011 and then completed her MS in Biomedical Anthropology at Binghamton University in 2014.  She then continued on as as PhD student at Binghamton University and completed all coursework, but in 2015, she chose to pursue a career in research instead. During her time at graduate school, she was involved in research that looked at the effects of modernization on health in the developing island-nation of Vanuatu as well as working on a multi-focus research project that studied Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. After graduate school, she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Hunterdon Hematology Oncology where she helped place patients on multiple Pharmaceutical and NIH-funded cancer trials. Kaitlyn is excited to become a research coordinator for the Simons VIP Connect team.

When Kaitlyn is not working, she enjoys being with her friends and family, trail running or hiking, attending concerts, traveling, reading and attempting new recipes.

Ashley Wilson, MS, CGC

Genetic Counselor and Medical History Interview Coordinator at Columbia University

Ashley received her B.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics with a minor in Developmental Psychology from the University of Guelph in 2004. She received her M.S. in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in 2007 and was board certified in genetic counseling in October 2009. In addition to her work with Simons VIP, Ashley works as a clinical pediatric and prenatal genetic counselor at the Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian. In her free time she enjoys training for half marathons, reading, spending time with friends and family, and volunteering in her community.

 Bethanny Smith-Packard, MS, LGC

Bethanny was a study coordinator on the Simons VIP Connect project for several years. She now works as a Pediatric Genetic Counselor at Penn State Hershey.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Heather Rocha, MS, LGC

Heather worked on the Simons VIP Connect project from 2014-2017. She continues to work at Geisinger Meidcal Center, but on different research projects.

 

 

 


Kara Fultz, MPH

Kara worked as a study coordinator on Simons VIP Connect for two years and now works for the public health department in Philadelphia, PA.
